What do these meetings ever accomplish? And we know that China is extremely irrational. If this triggered WW3, which is obviously very low probability but still possible, it would have been for literally nothing.

China will not attack Taiwan if they see that the US will support Taiwan, especially with our nuclear weapons. I think the meeting was getting us closer to that goal.
