It is just basic Economics 101 that countries should focus on what they do best and most competitively and trade with other countries globally. Otherwise we all become "self-subsistent farmers" again. This benefits everybody since everybody is better off through global trade.

Of course, globalization is good for every country since it will not only lower prices for consumers, but also increases the variety of products being offered. If consumer electronics would be only manufactured in the US, their price would probably be double.
