2022 has been a great year for music.

DAWN FM, 2000, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers . . . It actually goes on and on and on. I feel like DAWN FM was The Weeknd's magnum opus, which is extremely impactful for all of music. The transition from a toxic lover boy making songs about drugs and sex to this level of production and artistry was amazing to witness.

Yeah you are not a real Abel fan. Dawn FM was probably his worst album- It was for the masses / tiktok / elevators.

Just because something is used on tiktok does not take away from the intrinsic meaning and overall level of the song. You are getting too caught up with trying to be contra with society because that is your external validation. Just listen to what sounds good dude.

DJ Khaled's album was actually very good. The configurations he had on there with hip hop greats and new talent is just amazing. And this wave has pretty much only started in 2022.

Nothing with a super wow factor has dropped. I have found that my entanglement with music has waned precipitously this year. I no longer spent nights staying up listening to albums.

Maybe in hip hop and what the young ones listen to. But for Rock and Blues no new artists have caught my eye. But not just this year however. It has been like this for decades. I remain hopeful . . .

There have been no classics at all. I have been enjoying music not by listening to new releases but by going on nostalgia trips and discovering older music, going deeper into artists I love, and discovering newer artists. Nothing from this year though- almost nothing I have listened to on the radio or anywhere has had the wow factor.
