Europe and China have high-speed rail as it is the most convenient mode of transportation for middle-distance destinations. In the US, it should be much faster for NYC-DC, NYC-Boston, SF-LA etc to go by high speed rail than either flying or driving.

Climate change could cause extinction by 2050. High Speed Rail is all-electric and can be powered by clean, renewable energy. Project Drawdown in 2020 found that HSR can reduce carbon emissions up to 90 percent (you're welcome for that card).

This should not be the government’s job. If there is demand for rail transportation then private companies should invest and turn this into a profitable business
